The island gateway

After few days in Kuala Lumpur we flew to Langkawi, a fruitarian paradise, an archipelago of 99 islands, Langkawi is the largest of the lot mist covered mountains & lush jungle shroud the island famed for its intriguing legends and tales of princesses, ogres, gigantic birds, heroic warriors, epic ancient battles, love and romance. The name of the island is believed to be originated from the abundance of eagles. Colonial style architecture, fruistactic lifestyle, what made the place more interesting also is the authenticity of the people and their earthy attitude. Smiles, fruits, fish and Spas...We had an unforgettable stay!

1. The Frangipani experience

We stumbled upon a great beautiful resort called Fangipanni. We decided to make it our home for many reasons, the first is that everything served in this resort is organic, from fruits to vegetables & from herbs to tea. The food & beverage provide healthy and non hazardous foods for all guests. Apart from saving energy, the hotel vigourously persues an eco green programe that is based on renewable energy & care for the environment, their concern is not only in saving money but also on protecting the green aspect of life. They have solar system, rainwater harvesting, waste management and more. Isn't it cool to stay in a eco green place! Recycle bins are placed around the resort. Rubbish is categorized into kitchen waste, paper, glass, plastics & aluminium. They produce organic fertilizer by doing composting using organic materials such as kitchen waste and garden waste. In love with the garden Myna bird daily visitor Playing with baby crabs Wetland garden Picking lunch Night visitor On way to lunch Our friend Our big boy The chicken Villa Me me me! Leftovers like apple, orange, papaya, coconut shells, pineapple, pear, watermelon...are used to produce garbage enzymes.  Click on photo to enlarge

The photos are so magical - all of them! I love that they have all those recycle bins, and that organic waste is composted. I wish we had that in NY. LOL!
