LOVE at first bite

Millet sushi
Ciao ciao Amore!
That is was my takeaway lunch from Woods Macrobiotics  it was love at first bite: Raw millet sushi & seaweeds salad.
When you are into rawfoods this is N i r v a n a !! Millet is the only alkaline grain! All grains are yeast feeders except wonderful millet, so it's the best choice in grains for those who wants to starve the yeast! and keep the ph level balanced in the body. avoiding breads & cakes is sometimes not enough, eating raw and binging on yeasty grains is not healthy too! Quinoa is a superb grain as well, my middle boy loves quinoa milk ;-) but still Millet wins the game of "cleanest grain of all"! You can find this bright article  by Earthmother  on sprouting quinoa and a perfect winter millet salad here

Seaweeds salad
They were lots of seaweeds in there, cabbage green & red, carrots, raisins, white beans and an exquisit dressing made with love, organic raw manuka honey and ginger.

I asked how they made the millet sushi, and basically they soaked the grain in warm salted water, once it's absorbed they add nama shoyu, the rest is the rolling part, with carrot, cucumber, oyster mushrooms & red cabbage, degustation with shoyu! I am making it very soon, I feel like I have been plugged in to a high voltage circuit since I came back...have to find time to do what I want to do ;-)
I knew that it will be an adventure to look for organic millet in Saudi Arabia, the organic shelffs are quiet packed in Riyadh but I would have noticed a goodie like that, that's why I got it from the actual place to make them back home...Imagine if the one I make turns tastier Ah!Ah! posting it surely asap!

The restaurant menu had raw vegan appetizer, soup, main course and dessert, all based on macrobiotic principales and organic culture, I learned that Macrobiotics is a greek word. Macro : Big large long. Bio : life. Microbiotic : long life diet. I thought that was cool ;-)
Woods was voted as the best 10 restaurants by expatriate lifestyle magazine, the perfect spot for rawvegans.
Their concept goes beyond the service itself, their philosophy is based on:
  • Eat Food in its whole form
  • Pure food is medicine
  • Food and the environment are closely related
  • Balance is the essence
Check out their essence, I felt in love with their food and I can't have it anymore ;-(
All "Woods" staff come from the Woods macrobiotic cooking academy of South East Asia, wonder why that sushi was so good! perfect ingredients put together by perfect people!

Wish all restaurants & cafes had this concept...with book shelfs displaying tips on organic gardening, clean nutrition and how to cultivate an ecofriendly attitude, that's when daydreams are lovely!!

Love & millet to all
